Pump trap - PT

The pumping trap "PT", is recommended in the transfer of high temperature liquid such as condensate, oils and other liquids, ideal for condensate removal from vented receivers and drainage.

The "PT" can drain a closed vessel under vacuum or pressure; it can be operated by steam, compressed air or gas.

No electric power or additional level controls.

Compact design.

Liquid flow into the "PT", through an inlet check valve, lifting a float which, at the upper limit of its travel open the supply valve which allow steam or compressed air to enter the "PT" body.

Pressure in the "PT" builds up until just sufficient to overcome back pressure.

The pressurized open the outlet check valve and discharge commences.

When the float reaches the minimum level it closes the steam or compressed air supply valve and opens the vent, allowing the liquid to fill the "PT" again.

Motive gas.............................Air

Pressure available.................6.9 bar

Vertical lift after pump...........6 m

Return piping pressure..........1.5 bar

Piping friction pressure drop..negligible

 

CALCULATIONS

Total back pressure: 1.5 bar + (6mm x 0.0981) =2. 09 bar

Pump choice, assuming steam for motive pressure of 6.9 bar and back pressure of the 2° pump has a capacity from flow rate capacity chart 1, of 2765 Kg/h

 

CORRECTION FOR FILLING HEAD:

With 0.15 filling head the correction factor from chart 3 is 0.7. The corrected capacity is 2765 Kg/h x 0.7 = 1935 Kg/h

 

CORRECTION FOR AIR MOTIVE GAS:

The % back pressure 2.09 bar / 6.9 bar = 30%

The correction factor from chart 2 is 1. 08

The corrected capacity is, 1935 Kg/h x 1. 08 = 2090 Kg/h
